The Sisters

Having a hard time finishing The Sisters written by Nancy Jensen. Each chapter is from the viewpoint of one of the sisters. The chapters also jump forward in time. Makes for confusing reading. I want to know: what happened next.

Example a woman basically kidnaps a child with the child's consent. They hop a train with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. I guess the woman had some money in her purse in those days before credit and ATM or MAC cards. Readers next meet up with the woman several years later.

No explanation as to how she landed a plumb job. Where did they go when they got off that train? Did the child's father report her missing? No Amber Alerts back then either. Perhaps that will be explained in a future chapter. But I might not be able to muddle through the book until the end.

A woman looking for her roommate who suddenly disappeared, spent three days "wandering around Union Station" and "sleeping on a bench beneath the arching skylight in the Great Hall." Then the manager and guards "...told her vagrants weren't allowed and she'd have to leave." Not having gone to work, she lost the room they rented. A man took her off the streets, gave her a job.

Okay, off to see if I can finish reading this one; if not start on another murder mystery.
