Guts on a plate came from the Change Please CSULB student multi-media show. I do not remember why I made note of it. Maybe it was the title of one of the pieces of art. I did write an article about the show, Homeless What Image Comes To Mind?
Too much time has elapsed for me to remember the part of the show with these questions:
What's the toughest thing about being homeless?Would you trust a homeless person?Would having help early on have prevented you from becoming homeless?Do you know anyone who wants to be homeless?
One lady said, "I would probably cry all the time...". I think it was a film of interviews in Los Angeles done by one of the students. Good questions. My answers, August 2, 2009:
Would having help early on have prevented you from becoming homeless?
Most definitely. If the nurse had not decided I did not need to see a LCT back in 1998 or if the voices on the other end of the line at BC/BS of Rhode Island had heard: headaches, blurred vision, extreme tiredness, memory loss, head in a fog and thought: Head Injury, I mayt have had the help I needed when I needed it. I should have been put out on temporary disability at that time. Instead thinking the loud booming voice (stated symptoms) and other issues were due to Job Stress, take three days off and call if you need Valium, I quit the job.
Family could have helped also. Geeze, I told them I thought I was talking to ghosts and…
If I had known about places to shower, get meals, and GR, early 2004, I would not have driven car back east and sold it, returning to Long Beach to live on the streets. Perhaps I would have found employment and blah, blah, blah.
