Napping at Bixby Park

Terrible snapshot! That "pole" is one of Long Beach's tall pine trees. That little bit of something in front of it, is a homeless woman napping with her black wheeled suitcase beside her. I did not want to get too close when I took the snapshot. I often slept during the day in the same park. Not far from that very tree where she was sleeping that afternoon of the Safe Haven picnic.

I tried resizing, cropping and she still looked like "a little bit of something". When I took the photo I was trying to capture those muddy spots of dirt. Sprinkler systems mean the ground in parks is often wet. I would insulate with a plastic trash bag to keep blanket dry. I often slept under trees; just the little shade from a skinny palm tree was what I needed to keep my face in the shade and enjoy the sun's heat on my bare legs.

It was often hard to find an available tree in Bixby Park. Was not just homeless were vying for the shade on hot summer days. There seem to be very few at the park now-a-days. I often wonder where all my homeless peers are hanging out today.
