Sleep Won't Come...
...the whole night thru" words from an old tune popped in my mind as I tried to come up with a title for this post.
I enlarged this photo emailed to myself and downloaded to the machine. Wonder if I should have left it the same camera phone emailed size. Think it looks okay. Embarrassing to snap photos as I walked from the library to a store the other day. With all Long Beach's new construction many of the places I slept are gone.
This was my corner assigned to me by Gilbert Grape. I might have snapped a pic of his corner, but too many people entering the building. That is where I was sleeping when a light touch on my butt roused me to quick action. I imagined a rat or cockroach. Have seen some large roaches, but in my awake to sleep state the mind did not process it must have been a giant rock for me to feel it through several layers of clothing. The guy that was attempting to find my wallet took off so fast he was gone by the time I got to where that gray pole is and I could view the streets in all directions.
Desperation for dry caused me to risk tickets by sleeping in such an open spot and forbidden near business spot. It was close to downtown and Friday Farmer's market port-a-pots is why I sometimes slept there on Thursday to Sunday nights. GG was a safe guy for a female sleep buddy. No fears of a guy touch rousing you from sleep looking for more than a wallet, you see.

Hello,
I am currently in my last year studying graphic design in Toronto and doing a thesis project on homelessness. I am interested in studying the support systems that are created between one homeless person and another, and the communal sharing of information within that group of people. I was wondering if you have an email address I can contact you at, to further explain my project and conduct an informal interview by asking a few questions about your experience? I am hoping your response will assist me with the development of my ideas.
You can email me at: e_auyeung@hotmail.com
Kind regards,
Elaine
