Springfield, Greene County

"House Bill 1606 is a new law that went into effect this month that makes it illegal for homeless people to sleep on state-owned land."

Article does not say where this is, other than Springfield, and Greene County.

Property owners complained about homeless camping on their property. The Sheriff arrested them; if no outstanding warrants, they were set free. Homeless advocates said sheriff should have given them 24-hour notice to vacate. Article comments, 100 to one in favor of sheriff.

Same stereotypical comments. Kyle said he graduated foster care at 18 and his reward was homelessness. I have recently read about 18-year-olds aging out of foster care with no where to go, no money, no job, no family. Another former homeless person explained how the bottom can fall out in anyone's life, causing homelessness.

Someone replied it would not happen to him, because he was not stupid. A couple mentioned Christian Bible verses, "if you are into that kind of thing." Others ranted about migrants, "send them to Mexico" as payback for Mexico sending us migrants. They choose to be homeless; I work why do my tax dollars go to people who refuse to work; drug addicts. Reagan's trickle down economics cause of homelessness.

Outlawing state-owned land, is like outlawing sleeping on public sidewalks. Where are the unhoused supposed to sleep? Of course when I ask, the anti's say all of the above reasons they think people are homeless, as a reason why they should not be allowed to sleep anywhere.
