Comments, Lake Cachuma water level

"The riverbed in the Lompoc area has become a site for encampments used by homeless people." Thus helicopters will fly over the area to warn squatters to leave the area due to potential flooding along Lake Cachuma.  NutintheHut

Only in CA does the homeless get to live on riverfront land, while hardworking middle class folks have to live in regular old tract homes.

Nobody with any sense wants to live in a dry riverbed, or even on a river bank. Sensible people build where their homes won't be washed away every time the river runs in flood. The reason that these homeless squat there is because no one else wants to be there. But you can try it if you want to.

The homeless will trade places with the tract home folks any time at all.

Negative Light
no they won't, they've been given numerous resources to stop being homeless. the ones that would only turn abandoned homes and squats into drug dens

T.W.
Why are they dumb enough to live in the river bed?

SSL

Substance abuse, mental illness.

Sand is softer than dirt,

when you don't have a mattress ...

Chris

They are mentally ill and homeless. The river bed has been dry for 6 years. I doubt they realize the floods

Pat

They were offered government funding but turned it down for the view.

LumL

They were run out of town by the townies.
