Apartment On Broadway

Was trying to capture side gate in this photo of apartment on Broadway where I lived for three years. Might say events summer of 1999 lead to eventual homelessness. Do not remember if we were allowed to enter/exit via that side gate. I think not. My memory is of neighbor across center walkway opening his door every time he heard me put my key in the lock or open my door to leave.

I tried all kinds of ways to get Albert to stop knocking on my door. Which he did in addition to opening his door every time I used my own. Nothing worked. Other than that, my time in my apartment on Broadway was a happy time. Miss that life or lifestyle terribly. Gloomy spring/summer this year; makes me miss it all the more. Seemed it was always sunny back then. Gloomy mornings did not stop me from going out skating. Easy walk to beach in evenings on those days when sun did not pop out until after 2PM in the afternoon.

Side gate: a narrow sidewalk with a bit of space next to my back door. I had a little garden growing there. I would sit on back 'stoop' to catch some rays while doing my AAI paperwork or reading. The apartment complex was remodeled. The back doors gone, replaced by walls. The kitchen in that apartment was a decent size; having a front door and back door, was important to me. Especially since I had access to a 'backyard' garden.
